A.P.E Fire & Security completed refurbishment and new installation of Panic attack, Access Control, CCTV, Barrier Entry, Intercom, Electronic Turnstiles Entry & Disabled Refuge Systems of the iconic Grade II listed City Hall in Bristol. A full strip out of all existing finishes preceded a combined CAT A and CAT B fit out of 125,000 sq. ft. as the Council provided new and modern ways of working for 1,100 staff. On the ground floor, the original cash hall was stripped of a mezzanine floor. This opened up the whole area which was redesigned to create meeting space, a large breakout area with a Grab & Go café, and presentation space with an auditorium seating area. Public facing areas on the ground floor ensured that the Council is well placed to improve interaction with its clients – the general public.
This project followed a successful £4.5m refurbishment of new office space for the Council at 100 Temple Street. A third project was then awarded to refurbish additional space at 100 Temple Street.
The project was complex and we faced many challenges along the way with a team of six engineers over a 6 month period. We completed the project on time and within programme. When the client moved back into the building we worked closely with them to make sure the systems we installed matched their operational requirements moving forward.
