Sector: Commercial & Industrial
Project Duration: 12 Months

Location: Cirencester, Gloucestershire
Date Completed: 2016

A.P.E were given the chance to work with Lauren Llewellyn Bowen and Interaction, a high-end interior design company based in Bath.

The project consisted of completing a £3 million renovation of a castle in the Bathurst Estate in Cirencester. The aim of this project was to produce a creative and fun workspace for the client.

The project was spread across a 12-month period, from initial designs through to completion. As you can see from the images the castle turned out incredibly, ultimately winning several awards and receiving a lot of press attention in the process and running as a featured article in a January 2017 edition of The Sun.

Throughout this project we had to think outside the box in respect of how these bespoke systems would operate and work with this client’s unique requirements.

Here you can see a range of the themed meeting rooms including, a ski-lodge and an ice cave. There are also additionally rooms which do not have a theme but are putting a modern twist on a classic castle.

The Secret Door

Here is a picture of one of our most exciting parts of the building, the reception with a secret door. Here you can see the wall either side of the fireplace is a bookcase. We installed a hidden access control system in one of the books so with a fob you can have access to the room behind.

As you can see here the proximity detector was completely invisible from the bookcase side which allowed this room to be completely hidden.

Here are the toilets which were also decorated in various themes such as Rolling Stones and Steampunk.

For this project we installed a full working fire and intruder alarm, access control and CCTV. We worked to create a suitable and compliant fire and security system whilst ensuring that the system matched the aesthetics where possible.

This project was a perfect example of how A.P.E can work closely both clients and designers to match their unique requirements in a challenging environment.
